Today, representatives of the Municipal Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development handed over Contracts on the award of free greenhouses to 23 farmers from our municipality. Greenhouses were allocated to them as part of the Program of Incentive Measures to Support Agricultural Producers engaged in vegetable production, i.e. production in protected areas - greenhouses, said Secretary of the Secretariat Armin Sijarić, adding that 50,000 euros were planned for this incentive measure.

"When creating this measure, we took into account climate changes, which are reflected in intense rainfall, heat waves, droughts, spring frosts and hail, which cause more and more problems for domestic farmers. The increasingly frequent occurrence of unfavorable weather conditions reduces the stability of income in this sector, so outdoor production is increasingly at risk. Protected areas ensure intensive production, combined production of vegetables out of season, better control of diseases and pests with the application of biological control, which also ensures healthy food. For the past 3 years, through the program of incentive measures for rural and sustainable development, that is, through this measure of support for vegetable production in protected areas, we have supported 52 registered farms by allocating one greenhouse of 100m2 each. This year, we are awarding 23 greenhouses, which is a total of 75," said Sijarić.

He recalled the good cooperation with the Turkish Development Agency "Tika", which donated 35 greenhouses to Bjelo Polje farmers through the Secretariat for Agricultural and Sustainable Development.

One of the beneficiaries of support for the allocation of free greenhouses is Husein Batilović from Crniš. He says that he is getting a greenhouse for the first time, even though he has been farming for twenty years.
